Research Note

The DAR lists his unit as "10th Regiment, New York Militia," and there's no such regiment, so it generated an error message. It can't be a continental regiment because NY only had five. So it's probably the 10th regiment of one of the NY militias. Reply from 1776 Project leader Betty Skelton 4 August 2022.

See https://www.americanwars.org/ny-american-revolution/albany-county-militia-tenth-regiment.htm - numerous Rockefellers in this unit including enlisted man Diell Jr. the others: ADJUTANT PHILIP ROCKEFELLER, CAPT. DIELL ROCKEFELLER, CAPT. DIRCK ROCKEFELLER LIEUT. WILLIAM ROCKEFELLER Rockefeller, Diell, Jr. and Rockefeller, Simeon So updated his 1776 sticker to 10th Albany. Meehan-411 4 August 2022.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Diehl by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Diehl:
