"Edmund S. Rockwell, born May 8, 1838. near Horseheads, was reared on a farm. When twenty years old he learned the trade of a blacksmith, in which he is now engaged. January 2, 1861, he married Hannah A. Baker, of Erin, and they had children as follows: Miles, born April 19, 1865, died aged fifteen ; Frances G., born October 29, 1862 ; Bernice J., born October 14. 1868 ; Emma S., born May 5, 1873 ; Minerva M., born November 26, 1878 : and Lena R., born March 6, 1881.
