Biography

Fay Opal (Rockwell) Scutt, 92, was born in Hyer, New Mexico, on December 8, 1923, and went to be with the Lord and her loved ones on January 1, 2016. She was the third eldest of eight children, moving with her pioneering family to Albuquerque in 1940. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne A. Scutt; son, Richard L. Bond; daughter, Peggy Ann (Scutt) Anderson; granddaughter, Carrie Marie McHan; grandson, Michael Jason Scutt; parents, Wesley and Eliza Rockwell; brother, Eugene Rockwell; and sisters, Florence Watson, Vera Donald, Wilma Dillow, and Fern Kahlor. She is survived by sons Michael A. Scutt (Terri) of Chandler, AZ; Steven A. Scutt (Julee); daughter, Judy A. (Scutt) McHan (Richard) of Bangs, TX; grandchildren, Amy Sam, Melissa Paul, Clint Jacobs, Nickolas Jacobs, Aaron Scutt, Jared Scutt, Ryan Scutt, Chris McHan, Nick McHan, Brittany Culverhouse; sister, Phyllis Stevens; brother, Phillip Rockwell, and many nieces and nephews. She was loved by her great and great-great grandchildren. She was a member of the Parkview Baptist Church and Del Norte Baptist Church of Albuquerque. She helped run the Scutt Plastering Business with her husband, Wayne, and son, Steve for over 50 years. Her door was always open to a hot meal, warm bed, and an evening of games, fun, and laughter. In her later years, granddaughter Melissa Paul, great-granddaughters Jessica, Ashelie, and Eva helped with her care and played games with her. She was always thankful for her visitors who stopped by to play games and spend time with her at the nursing home. She still enjoyed games and telling jokes. Her church and her belief in the Lord were an important part of her life, and she was still active with Grace Church at the nursing home where she resided. We are thankful for Albuquerque Rehabilitation Center employees who listened to her jokes and cared for her. Donations can be sent in her name to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Society in Memory of Daughter Peggy Scutt Anderson. Services will be held on Monday, January 4, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at FRENCH – Lomas, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE with a Visitation from 9:30 to 10:30.
