Sarah Elizabeth Rockwell was born on 5 August 1771 in Connecticut, United States. Sarah married Phineas Bell in 1790.[1]
Sarah passed away on 12 December 1866 in Westmoreland, Oneida County, New York, United States. Sarah and her husband, Phineas, are buried at Blackmer Cemetery in Westmoreland, Oneida County, New York, United States. Her obituary reads: "BELL - At Westmoreland, New York, on December 19, 1866, Mrs. Sarah Bell, in the 96th year of her age. She was a relict of the late Capt. Phineas Bell who in the Revolutionary contest was a prisoner, and for ten long months suffered the horrors of the Sugar House prison in New York. They were married in 1790, and a few years afterwards removed to Westmoreland, where the subject of this notice has resided for more than sixty-five years; she was eminently one of the excellent ones of the earth. Truly was it remarked by an individual at her funeral 'she never had an enemy.'" [2]
