Preceding her in death were her parents, Les and Meb Rockwell and two brothers, Don and Wayne.

Donna was born November 1, 1930 at South Sioux City, NE to Les and Meb Rockwell. After graduating from South Sioux High School in 1948, she attended Wayne State College. While in her freshman year, she, (an accomplished pianist), met the Love of her Life in the Music Department. After Merle's 2 years in the Army (Korea) they were married on September 1, 1951 in her home Church, 1st Lutheran in South Sioux City, Nebraska.

They continued the farming and cattle feeding operation of his parents, Wallace and Laura Ring—retiring in 1992—Evergreen Heights Farms. Soon after that, they transformed their actively used cattle barn into a Community Entertainment Facility called THE BARN. They host many shows, reunions, celebrations, receptions, college activities and more. Four years ago they hosted a reception on behalf of Governor Heineman and his wife. Donna & Merle not only entertained in the loft with piano and organ music, they have played piano-organ concerts regularly in The Oaks, care centers, retirement homes here locally and in other states. They have travelled to all 50 states, Canada, Mexico, and the Bahamas. Their former exchange students have hosted them in Sweden (Thomas) and Norway (Toby). They have both been very active and loyal to Journey Christian Church in Wayne for the last 8 years. Prior to that they were the pianist and organist for 50 years at Wakefield Christian Church. Recently they were counting the number of friends and family weddings they had played for—over 200!

Donna was always a great hostess and will be missed by all her family and friends, especially her devoted husband, Merle. Engraved on their tombstone in the Wakefield cemetery is the Scripture from Joshua: "CHOOSE YOU THIS DAY WHOM YOU WILL SERVE, BUT AS FOR ME AND MY HOUSE, WE WILL SERVE THE LORD!"

Pallbearers will be Josh Ring, Ben Ring, Luke Ring, Adam Jech, Jeremy Jech, Jordan Jech, Alex Walker, and Andrew Walker.

Friends are invited to join the family for a luncheon following the memorial service. A private family burial at the Wakefield Cemetery will follow the luncheon. Memorial gifts can be designated to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation or Journey Christian Church.

She passed away Sunday at her home at Emeritus at The Oaks in Wayne
