Do you think Catherine is really the daughter of these parents? She was born in Ireland but her mother was born in the U.S. and her parents married in the U.S., meaning they must have returned to Ireland before Catherine's birth. It's quite possible isn't it, but perhaps a bit of confirmation would be good.
