Biography

Emmett was born about 1900 in Pennsylvania, the son of Joseph and Angelina Rodgers.

In 1920, the Rodgers family lived in their rented home at 29 Marion, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The household included Joseph Rodgers, 50, a fruit merchant, born in Italy (as were his parents). Joseph immigrated to the US in 1890, and became a naturalized citizen in 1900; his wife Angelina, 45, a helper in the fruit store, was born in Italy (as were her parents), and became a naturalized citizen. Angelina could not read or write English; their five children, all born in Pennsylvania:

• Robert, 26, helper in fruit store
• Emmett, 20, helper in fruit store
• Jennie, 13
• Lewis, 27, in the automobile business; his wife Catherine, 27; and son Joseph, 2 yrs 6mos. All born in Pennsylvania.
• Rose, 22, a theater organist; and her husband Ludwig Bongiovanni, 23, a real estate man, born in New York, whose parents were born in Italy.

Also living with them were Anne Puskar, 27, a servant, single, born in Pennsylvania, whose parents were Slovish (Polish); and Catherine Puskar, 2 yrs 3 mos, b. PA, whose father was US born, and her mother was b. PA. ^[1]
