Biography

Emilia "Emily" (Rodrigues) Martin was born on the 17th of November 1888 in Honolulu, Hawaii.^[1] Per her 1920 census, both of her parents were born in Portugal.^[2]

Manuel died on the 11th of September 1932 in Honolulu.^[3] Cause of death was Cancer of the liver..^[3] He was laid to rest in the Diamond Head Memorial Park Cemetery.^[3] Emily survived him, living another thirty-three years.^[1] Emily was survived by five son, seven daughters, twenty-three grandchildren, and twenty-six great-grandchildren.^[1]

Research Notes

Her parents are said to be John Rodrigues and Mary Estrella Medeiros. I haven't found her birth, marriage or death records.

Her obituary lists a brother Joseph. The only 1900 census that matches with this information (and her age) is the one for "Amelia Rodrigues" in Honolulu with parents John and Mary.^[4]
