Oppenlander, Fern Mrs. Oppenlander, age 88, died July 14, 1976 at a local hospital. She was a member of Mr. Hope United Methodist Church since 1920 and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was superintendant of the church's Sunday School for 20 years. Surviving are her husband Lewis T., two sons F. Carlton Smith of Lansing and Robert D. Smith of Arizona, 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and one sister Thelma Joy of Haslett. Funeral services well be Fri. at 10 a.m. at the Pamer-Bush Funeral Home with Rev. George C. Elliott officiating. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Funeral home. The family requests taht contributions be made to the Mr. Hope United Methodist Church memorial Fund in memory of Fern Oppenlander. pallbearers will be Roger J. Smith, Frederick C. Smith, Douglas W. Smith, Michael Smith, Jerry Zaikowski, and Karl Kammeyer.
