Norman was born July 30, 1918 in Colfax to Horace and Bertha Rubin Rogers. He grew up around Diamond and Onecho where he attended country schools before graduating from Colfax High School in 1937. Track records that he set in high school remained unbroken until the 1970’s. He attended trade school at Washington State College in diesel mechanics. He also played piano, guitar and accordion in a small band and their music was broadcast over the WSC radio station. He married Vera Evelyn Buckley in Walla Walla June 7, 1941. He farmed with his father for a while and they later lived and farmed in the Onecho area for most of their lives. They were well known by many area farmers for treating seed. He was named conservation farmer of the year in 1975. Norman and Vera moved to town in 1978 and he retired from farming in 1984. He liked to part out wrecked combines and he was well known for having needed parts. He was a life long member of the Wilcox Grange and an active member of the Onecho Bible Church. He was a hard worker and he enjoyed woodworking, horseback riding and working with horses.

He is survived by his wife, Vera; 2 daughters and their families; Rosalinda & Ed Schluneger and Sharon & Chuck Lyman all of Colfax; 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorials are suggested to the Onecho Bible Church.
