Biography

Clayton Roy Rogers was born in 1882 in Cloud County, Kansas to the Reverend Noah Benjamin Rogers and Arminda "Minda" Belveal Rogers.

After the early death of his father in 1899, Roy stayed in Kansas and worked on the family's farm. In 1908, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, Jefferson Barracks for a period of 3 years. He was discharged 15 Apr 1911 at Ft. Screven, GA - at the expiration of his service.

Roy married Bessie Belle Russell, daughter of Thomas Edwin Russell and Jane Adora Higgs Russell,14 September 1909, in Key West, Florida. In 1910, they were living at Fort Screven, Tybee Island, Georgia. The couple had two sons, both of whom were born in Harbour Island, Bahamas. Shortly thereafter, the marriage seems to have ended.

By 1920, Roy Rogers was living in San Diego, California and working as a carpenter. He married again in the 1920s.

Clayton Roy Rogers died in Lakeside, San Diego County, California in March 1934
