Biography

Fought in the Civil War? The biography of Coleman's son Wiley Rogers states that Coleman fought in the Civil War (Confederate) [1] - if anyone has records of this please add.

Exact date and place of Coleman's death is unknown. Was after 1880 as he was on the 1880 Giles Co., TN Census Coleman's parents Thomas Rogers and Mary Jane Hampton made the migration from South Carolina with the McGuire Family traveling west into Tennessee then South to Alabama. They settled in the Area of Walker , Fayette, and Tuscaloosa Co. Alabama. On there trip Colemans sister Nancy Rogers married John McGuire in Shelbyville, Bradford Co., TN in 1812 then her brother Coleman was born somewhere in TN in 1816 and continued on to Alabama. Coleman Rogers married a Mary Caroline Lee in Tuscaloosa Co., AL on March 24 1840. They had several children. as follows, Caroline, John Thomas, Mary, Lucinda, Malcom Coleman Tobe, James, Sarah Ann, Wiley R, Nancy, Francis Marion (Jack), Melvina, and Robert W Rogers. Coleman moved north to Lincoln Co., TN in about 1858 . It appeas his wife Caroline had died as he married a Lydia Polly in 1859 in Lincoln. He moved to Giles Co., TN in early 1860;s and they had three children, Isaac , William, John J Rogers all born in Giles Co., TN.Lydia apparently died in about 1868 as she is no longer in the household. Coleman married a Lematine Unknown in about 1870 they had 4 children, Benjamin, Edward, Joseph, Delia Rogers. all are on the 1880 census. After 1880 the family broke up several moving to Texas some into Mississippi[2]
