Biography

Mildred Rogers was born about 1733. Her parents were John and Mary (Byrd) Rogers. [1] [2]

Mildred is said to have married first Moses Sharon, but no evidence has been found. She also is said to have born him three children, including Margaret Sharon, but, also, no evidence has been found. Moses is said to have died about 1755, but, again, no evidence has been found, yet.

If Mildred married Moses and bore him three children before 1755, when she was about 22, they probaly married about 1751, when she was 18.

Mildred married Reuben George before 1757 in Caroline County, Virginia. [1]

Reuben and Mildred had children:

  1. Phillip George (c1757-1778).
  2. William George (1760-1827) married Nancy Garthright.
  3. Mary “Molly” George (1763) married Achilles Rogers.
  4. Reuben George (1766-1807) married Elizabeth Sharp.
  5. Byrd George (1768-1836) married Mary Garthright and Catherine Wilson.
  6. Lucy George (1771) married John Oliver.
  7. Ann George (1774-1860) married James Gatewood.
  8. John George (1778-1801).

All but Phillip were named in Reuben's will. Phillip died unmarried, before the will was written. [3]

Mildred died before Reuben, between April 1787, when her daughter Mary wrote her a letter, and June 1789, "when James George wrote Reuben a letter and mentioned their sister had asked if he’d remarry." [4]

She is thought to have been buried in Fairford Cemetery, Penola, Caroline County, Virginia. [5]
