Hi J,

The United Kingdom Project has not been active since 2018 and we are now completely closing it down. We are removing all UK project badges. If you still have an interest in the UK and have not already joined another project, then you will need to join the England, Ireland, Scotland or Wales Project by answering one or more of their G2G posts. If your interest is in the British Isles and British Crown Dependencies and Overseas Territories, then please contact me directly.

Regards Joan

Hi J,

Thanks for taking responsibility for the Orphaned Profiles. This After Adopting Orphans FAQ explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need from their profile managers. One quick way to find the profiles you adopted is by searching your Contributions List for the word "adopted" and "manager." You can find a quick link to your Contributions List in the My WikiTree dropdown menu.

Let me know if you have any questions on how to find and record sources, merge duplicates, clean up GEDCOM biographies, and interpret the Suggestions report. I'm here to help!

Debi

PS If the profile needs GEDCOM cleanup, the AGC tool can help with formatting so that you can concentrate on the research. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.

Hi J,

We realise the time has come to dissolve the UK Project in favour of the individual country projects of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.

We are checking in with all UK badge holders to find out which country project(s) you would like to be in so you can collaborate with other members, have the opportunity to select which team(s) you would like to join, and so we can ensure you have all the correct badges.

Please respond by PM to let us know which country project(s) you would like to be in. Please don’t assume we know. We are effectively starting from scratch to make sure no one falls through the cracks.

Once you have done this, the Coordinator for Membership in the relevant country project(s) will be in touch to help get you situated.

Many thanks,

Susie

Hi J,

Congratulations on being Pre-1700 certified.

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many decendants, coordination is essential. Thanks for joining the UNITED_KINGDOM and PURITAN_GREAT_MIGRATION Projects.

J,

I noticed a few pre-1700 profiles you recently created use an Ancestry tree as source. Per Pre-1700 Profiles (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Pre-1700_Profiles#Cite_reliable_sources) and per the pre-1700 certification quiz (question 2), an Ancestry user tree is not considered a sufficient source to create a pre-1700 profile. Please come back to the pre-1700 profiles you recently created, like Hungerford-1067, Ordway-399, Ordway-398, ... and add sources, before you go on to create any more pre-1700 profiles. You can also look at Examples of uncertain sources as a guide to sources to avoid. Thank you!

Hi J

As I haven't received any communication from you in response to my two messages, I have removed you from the England Project and Google Group and removed the badge.

If you change your mind in the future you would be most welcome to rejoin.

Hi J

Just checking in to see if you are ok :)

It has been 3 weeks since I posted a message on your profile and I have not had any feedback from you.

If I don't hear from you by the weekend, I will presume you no longer wish to be involved in the England Project.

I will then go ahead and remove you from the project and remove the badge.

Hope to hear from you soon :)

Thanks,

Wendy Leader, England Project

Hello - it has obviously been a very long time since your message. Please accept my humble apologies.

The problem here for me is that wikitree tends to deluge people with email that is largely pointless. For that reason, I set up a separate account that I don't check that often. I know you are supposed to check frequently, but since months can go by with nothing other than automated updates, it is frustrating and with other personal conflicts, I let it go.

It would be better if there was a way to separate automated communications from those that come from humans. Perhaps I also should pay attention to comments on my own profile, but that hasn't generally seemed relevant either. You comment requesting a reply was the only one, ever, that suggested any action and I missed it.

Despite avid interest, people's involvement in these projects can come and go. Personally, I don't think it is a reasonable expectation that someone is "active" to consider them involved.

That much said, and given some of the changes in England/UK projects, I would like to re-affirm my interest in the England project. We also have ancestors from other parts of the UK, but I am primarily focused on ancestors from Dorset that were part of the PGM.

Hi J,

It's been a year since the England Project was re-ignited. Thank you for being part of this exciting journey!

We really appreciate all your contributions and hard work :)

We would love some feedback from you please. :)

Are you happy contributing with the team you are on, or would you like a change, or even add to another team?

If you are not already on a team, which one would you like to be on?

If you are not sure what is available, just ask, we are here to help :)

Are you still happy contributing to the England Project?

Please PM me through my profile and let me know how you are doing :)

Thank you :)

Hi J

I am just checking in to see how things are going.

I know you are busy beavering away on the Orphan Trail, and on behalf of the England Team, I wanted to thank you for all the TLC you are giving to the England Orphans.

Once you have finished the trail, I will get back with you and help you find your niche in the Project.

If you have any questions in the meantime, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Hi, glad to meet another Dorset enthusiast, glad to have you onboard. I'll add your name to the Dorset page in the next day or so.(am using a phone at the moment and am likely to muck it up. I notice you are also related to a Ford with roots in Dorset. (in my case through marriage)
