Vincent G. Rogers was born about 1832 in New York, the son of David and Henrietta Rogers. Vincent was a weaver. In 1850, he was 18, and lived in Watervliet, Albany, New York. The household included David Rogers, 42, a farmer, born in CT; his wife Henrietta, 41, b. CT; their seven children: Vincent G., 18, b. NY, a weaver; Henriette, 16, b. MA; David W., 14, b. NY, in school; Gilbert S., 12 b. MA, in school; Egbert G., 10, b. MA, in school; Cornelia A., 6, b. MA, in school; and Lucy A., 7 months, b. NY. Also living with the family was Vienna B. Van Curren, 20, b. MA, and married within the year; and Henrietta Rogers’ father, Simon Stearns, 65, b. Rhode Island, a tailor (his wife died the previous year). Living nearby was Henrietta’s brother, Simon’s son, Marcus Stearns and his family. [1]
