James Rogers was born on 18 October 1648, in Eastham, (then) Plymouth Colony, the son of Joseph and Hannah Rogers. His birth was recorded in Sandwich in 1651, but his parents were residents of Eastham by Oct. 1648.[1][2][3]
James died at Eastham on 13 April 1678.[7] His estate was inventoried on 01 May 1678, which included mainly stock, husbandry tools, household goods, and a house and lands, which totaled £135. One interesting item: a hive of bees, valued at £4.
On 06 May 1678 the court settled the estate of James Rogers of Eastham to provide for the widow Mary Rogers and her small children, with the eldest, Samuel (later to be called James), to have a double portion and the rest to have equal parts according to the will of their grandfather. Mary was named as administrator.[8][3]
A deed dated 18 June 1690 distributed the estate of James Rogers, deceased, "once husband of Mary wife of Israel Cole and father of the above James Rogers and Mary the wife of John Cole aforesd and Abigail Rogers." James had as part of his estate, an estate he had inherited from his father, Lt. Joseph Rogers, but had made no disposition "by will or testaments." Joseph's will had stipulated that at his coming of age the eldest grandson was to have a double portion, the other children to have their fair portions. The 1690 division settled one third to Mary the widow. The other two thirds divided one half to James and on quarter each to his sisters Mary and Abigail. The importance of this deed is that it proves that James' daughter, Mary, was married to John Cole before 18 June 1690.[9]
His widow Mary married, secondly, to Israel Cole on 24 April 1679 at Eastham,[10] and died after 12 May 1705, the date her father's will was written, which named her as the wife of Israel Cole, and made bequests to her three eldest children, James Rogers, Mary Cole and Abigail Yeats.[11][3] She died before her second husband, as she was not named in Israel's will dated 20 Jan 1723/4.[12]

Rogers-3748 and Rogers-2756 do not represent the same person because: Only the name and birth dates are the same, parents, siblings are all different, different individuals.
His father is listed as Unknown. However, his mother (Churchman-2) was married to Rogers-19 and her page lists both her husband and her son James. No indication on any of the pages that Churchman-2 had a second husband.
