Profile Improvements
Paula Rogers is a member of the Thames Name Study Project.
This profile is part of the Galesville, Wisconsin One Place Study.

I have been doing genealogy in one form or another, since I was a teenager. Unfortunately, I didn't know the right questions to ask at the time, but I did get some wonderful stories from my maternal grandfather, of which I am extremely grateful. (Grandpa, I'm sorry I ever doubted you... Sea monsters are real!)

Over the years, I have lived in several midwestern states from the Black Hills of South Dakota all the way down to southern Missouri. I am now nestled in a tiny cabin on a tiny lake, deep in the north woods of Wisconsin. I am retired from the University of Wisconsin - Madison, Division of Extension, which affords me much time to kayak, fish, and also to research my family -- especially the elusive Miss Roxy, my fourth great-grandmother.

It's time for the One Place Studies Project Check-In!

We've put together a survey for you to fill out to check in with you, it will only take a moment as there are only a few questions. Filling out the survey lets us know you are still interested in coordinating your study and provides an opportunity for you to share any suggestions you may have for the project.

If you have decided to step away from your study, please reply to this comment to that effect.

Same here! I think you are much more closely related to my husband, John Huff!

John and Alton are 6th cousins once removed, you are correct by a long shot.

That is quite the coincidence.

I’ve sent you an email with Huff info. Would like your thoughts!

Hi Paula,

This is a courtesy email to share the After Adopting Orphans FAQ which explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need from their profile managers. One quick way to find the profiles you adopted is by searching your Contributions List for the words "adopted" and "manager." You can find a quick link to your Contributions List in the My WikiTree dropdown menu.

Let me know if you have any questions,

Debi

Hello Paula,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Hi Paula & bienvenue. Do I have Roxy in my tree? I don't use this web site a lot, but it's just another place to find matches. I find Ancestry the easiest to work with. I ran a comparison of our DNA on GEDmatch. We match more than I would have thought:

Total Half-Match segments (HIR) 20.5cM (0.572 Pct) 55.741 Pct SNPs are full identical

I'll throw you an email with the results. Merry Christmas!

Hello Paula,

We are so happy you have upgraded to the Family Member level.

Please visit our tutorial pages to learn how to use WikiTree: How To Use WikiTree. They will save you time, energy, and frustration as you add your family profiles.

Exploring the site is the best way to learn. One way to do that is to check out the drop-down menus on the top right side of your profile page. Finding a known ancestor and collaborating with the profile manager is another great way to start.

Questions? You can always use the G2G link in the Help Menu to find answers.
