Biography

JONATHAN ROGERS (Joseph, James), son of Joseph Rogers Sarah<---> Rogers was born 1683 or 1685, in New London; died Feb. 2, 1746—7; married Dec., 1718, Alice Champion, she died Jan. 7, 1790. Her dower was set off, 1749. Resided in Lyme. Admitted inhabitant of Lyme, Jan. 31, 1714—5.

Dec. 30, 1730. Jonathan Rogers desireth that the town would give him liberty to build a saw-mill between Norridge Pond and Hogg Pond, with free liberty of timber on the commons to saw at said mill and transport the same and he will oblige himself, his heirs and assigns, to sell boards at the mill to the inhabitants of the town three shillings a thousand less than they can buy of any other saw-mill in the town. Feb. 10, 1746—7. Jonathan and Ezekiel, minor children of Jonathan Rogers late of Lyme, made choice of Joshua Champion, Jr., for guardian. Bond £200. Court appointed Alice Rogers guardian to Stephen, 12 years old, and also appointed her administratrix of estate of her husband. [1]
