  • John was born about 1820 and baptised on 24th December 1820 at Semley, Wiltshire, England, to Harriet Rogers[1] and Thomas Ransom[2] He was an illegitimate child so did not share surname with father.[2]
  • Presumed daughter Leah Rogers was born in 1839 in Semley, Wiltshire.[3]
  • Presumed daughter, Leah Rogers Parsons, died in infancy prior to the 1841 census.[4]
  • At the time of 1841 census was aged 20 and recorded as living in the civil parish of Semley with his grandmother, Sarah Rogers (aged 75), brother George Rogers (aged 18), father Thomas Ransom (aged 40) and probable sister, Mary Ann (aged 7).[5]
  • In 1841 was an agricultural labourer.[5]
  • Married Elizabeth Parsons in 1842 at St Leonards church in Semley, Wiltshire, England,[6][2] after the birth of at least one child together.
  • Second to seventh child:
    • 2. Daughter Harriet Rogers was born in 1842 in Semley, Wiltshire. Being baptised 5 months to the day after parents' wedding implies John's wife, Elizabeth, may have been obviously pregnant at the time of marriage.[7]

  • Eighth to Fifteenth child:
  • Died on 23 September 1906 at Willunga, South Australia (not far south from Aldinga).[9][10]
