Mamie Rohrbaugh has German Roots.

Mamie Rohrbaugh was a Pennsylvanian.

Mamie, daughter of Charles Horatio Rohrbaugh and Alice Elizabeth Hetrick, was born 24 February 1907 in Manheim Township, York County, Pennsylvania.^[1]

When Mamie Marie was three years old (1910), she lived on Cramers Road in Manheim Township in a house rented by her parents Charles H. (age 34, farmhand) and Alice E. (30, mother of five, four living) with them and her sisters Effie Elizabeth (10), Sadie Viola (8) and Mary Annie Rohabaugh (5).^[2]

By 1920 Charles H. (age 44, farmer) and Alice E. Rohrbaugh (40) purchased a farm on Black Rock Road in Manheim Township for their family, which then encompassed Mamie M. (12), and her siblings Sadie V. (18), Mary A. (15), Charles Emanuel, Jr. (9) and Erma Ruth Rohrbaugh (6).^[3]

On 16 April 1927 in York County, she married Horatio Ralph Rohrbaugh,^[4][5][6] son of Horatio Ralph Rohrbaugh and Minnie Lydian Miller.^[7] This union was not blessed with children.

After their marriage the couple lived with her in-laws in the house they rented at 625 York Street Extended in Penn Township, York County.^[4] The household in 1930 her in-laws Horatio R. (age 50, work worker at the cabinet works) and Minnie L. Rohrbaugh (47), their daughters Mary N. (24, shoe factory tamper) and Dorothy N. Rohrbaugh (17, eyelet machine operator at shoe factory), Mamie's husband Ralph H. (25, stone quarryman) and Mamie (24, shoe factory stitcher).^[4] The financial situation was tenuous during the Great Depression—the family did not own a radio.^[4]

Mamie's mother died in 1931 at age 52.^[8] Before 1935 the couple rented their own house at 314 Spring Street in Hanover, York County.^[9] Horatio (age 36, stone quarryman), Mammie (33, shoe factory tip stitcher) and her widowed father Charles Rohrbaugh (64, county home attendant) remained there in 1940.^[9] The record indicates that each of the three had completed eight years of formal education.^[9]

Her father passed away in 1958^[10] and husband, in 1979.^[11]

Mamie survived alone for more than two decades before her death on 28 February 2002 at Homewood in Hanover, York County,^[1][5][6] and was buried there at Rest Haven Cemetery.^[12]
