Hyppolite Roi and his twin brother Basile were born and baptized on 1 Aug 1825 in Saint-Clément parish in Beauharnois, Bas-Canada. They were the sons of Joseph Roy, farmer, and his first wife Catherine Reid. Godparents at Hyppolite's baptism were Jean Baptiste Poirier dit Lafleur and Hyppolite Theriault dite Deschaynes [sic]. Hyppolite died at the age of seven weeks on 22 Sep 1825; he was buried four days later on 26 Sep in Saint-Clément parish cemetery in Beauharnois.
