Biography

Johann was born in 1848. He passed away in 1914.

About 1868 he moved to Indiana.

1883 moved to Lafayette County, Indiana.

Occupation: farmer. He was also what is now called a Lafayette County Commissioner (former title - County Judge).

Cause of death: carcinoma of the urinary bladder (6 months, 27 days). Death certificate informant: William H. Rolf, Alma, MO.

Buried April 6, 1914 in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Alma, Lafayette County, Missouri.

Obituary: Lexington Intelligencer, April 10, 1914 DEATH OF JOHN F. ROLFJudge of the County Court Was Ill Nearly Six MonthsJohn F. Rolf, one of Lafayette county's most estimable citizens died Friday at 12:20 o'clock at his home in Alma, after an illness of six months. Judge Rolf was taken ill last fall and through the advice of his physician he went to Kansas City, where an operation was performed. From this he gained no relief, and gradually grew weaker until last Friday when he peacefully passed away.Judge Rolf was born in Markendorf, Hanover, Germany, September 15, 1848. He came to Indiana when twenty years of age and lived there until 1883, when he moved to Lafayette county, and settled near Alma. Judge Rolf was "a men of his word," strong in his convictions, thrifty, honest and honorable in all of his dealings with his fellow men, and esteemed mot highly by all who knew him. He was an active church member. He gave liberally to the cause of education, and made every sacrifice for the comfort and happiness of those less fortunate than he.He is survived by his wife, five sons and four daughters.The funeral was held at Alma Monday evening at 2 o'clock.
