Biography

Roland Henry Rolfe was born in 1878 in Lyminge, Kent, England to Henry Rolfe and Elizabeth Ann (Hewson) Rolfe. His birth was registered in Elham, Kent in the last quarter of the year, with mother's maiden name Hewson.^[1]

In 1881 Roland Henry Rolfe (age 2) lived in Lyminge with his father Henry (28, C Miller), mother Elizth Ann (30[34]), two sisters: Elsie Marie (1) and Margarate Carmnilla (0), and great-uncle Lenard Francis (64, Retired Miller).^[2]

In 1891 Roland H Rolfe (age 12) lived in Lyminge with his father Henry (37, Miller and Baker), mother Elizabeth A (42[44]), and five siblings: Elsie M (14[11]), Margaret C (10), Francis S (8), Janet B (6), and Leonard W (3).^[3]

In 1901 Roland Rolfe (age 22, Flour Miller) was a boarder in Bristol, Gloucestershire in the household of William Stanley.^[4]
