Hello, I'm William Henry Roll, born in 1942, a retired public school teacher, and living in a small isolated town in the southeastern California desert in the United States. I have been researching the Roll and related families since before 1995. I have portions of my genealogy on the internet in various locations.
We are the sum of our ancestors. Y-chromosome DNA testing shows that I belong to the "Nordic" Haplogroup I1a (M253), therefore, my earliest Roll ancestors came out of Africa about 70,000 years ago, crossed to the Middle East, moved up through Anatolia, across the Bosporus into the Balkans and across southern Europe. They sojourned for a while in Spain during the last Ice Age, and when the thaw came they moved north. I was with them!
I have ancestors in the historic past for the most part from Ireland, Scotland, England, The Netherlands, Germany, and France. My living relatives hail from such places as the Republic of Serbia, Republic of China, Arab Republic of Egypt, and United Mexican States.
