She died after 1241, the last notice of her in the Russian Primary Chronicle.[8] The names "Elena" and "Maria", sometimes given to her in derivative sources, have no basis in the historical record. It should be noted that Cawley's "Medieval Lands" errs in claiming that Baumgarten names her as Maria.[9]
