Biography

BALTHASAR ROMBERGER was born on 05 Jul 1747 in Franconia, Bayern, Germany. He died in Mifflin Township, Dauphin, Pennsylvania. He married (1) ANNA MARIA TRAUT, daughter of Johann Wendel Traut and Maria Magdalena Walter, on 14 May 1769 in Lancaster, Lancaster, Pennsylvania[1]. She was born in 1753 in Berrysburg, Dauphin, Pennsylvania8. She died in 1798 in Mifflin Township, Dauphin, Pennsylvania.

Balthasar Romberger and Anna Maria Traut had the following children:

i. ANNA MARIA ROMBERGER was born on 12 Jun 1771 in Earl, Lancaster, Pennsylvania. She died on 26 Feb 1838 in Mifflin Township, Dauphin, Pennsylvania. She married John Michael Matter , son of Johannes Adam Matter and Anna Barbara Arnholdin in 1787 in Lykens, Dauphin, Pennsylvania. He was born on 03 Oct 1763 in New Holland, Lancaster, Pennsylvania16-23. He died on 11 Feb 1852 in Lykens Valley, Dauphin, Pennsylvania .

ii. HEINRICH ROMBERGER was born on 12 Jul 1773 in Earl, Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He died on 31 Jan 1822 in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. He married Elisabetha Hoffman in 1794 in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. She was born in 1777 in New Holland, Lancaster, Pennsylvania. She died in 1894.

iii. ADAM ROMBERGER was born on 03 Jun 1775 in New Holland, Earl Township, Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He died on 17 Aug 1868 in Uniontown, Dauphin, Pennsylvania. He married (1) ANNA MARIA WERNER in 1795. She was born in 1775 in Normanby Township, Grey County, Ontario, Canada. She died in 1807 in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. He married (2) ANNA CATHARINA PAUL, daughter of George Paul and Anna Catharina Matter, in 1807 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. She was born on 14 Apr 1788 in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. She died on 09 May 1862 in Dauphin, Dauphin, Pennsylvania.

iv. SARAH ROMBERGER was born in 1777 in Pennsylvania37. She died date Unknown in Porter Township, Clarion, Pennsylvania. She married JACOB MILLER. He was born in 1767 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. He died date Unknown in Porter Township, Clarion, Pennsylvania.

v. ANNA CATHARINA ROMBERGER was born in 1777 in Earl, Lancaster, Pennsylvania. She died on 03 Jul 1851 in Wiconisco, Dauphin, Pennsylvania.

vi.BALTHASAR ROMBERGER was born on 28 Dec 1778 in New Holland, Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He died on 16 Jun 1839 in Mifflin Township, Dauphin, Pennsylvania . He married Elizabeth Seacrer on 25 Dec 1802 in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania39. She was born on 15 Nov 1782 in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania41. She died on 03 Feb 1858 in Mifflin Township, Dauphin, Pennsylvania.

vii. JOHANNES ROMBERGER was born on 29 Nov 1783 in Mifflin Township, Dauphin, Pennsylvania. He died in 1848 in Porter Township, Schuylkill, Pennsylvania.



He married (2) SUSANNAH LEHMAN on 15 Jun 1798[2] in Harrisburg, Dauphin, Pennsylvania. She was born on 19 Feb 1771 in Trappe, Montgomery, Pennsylvania. She died in 1813.

Balthasar Romberger and Susannah Lehman had the following children:

i. SUSANNAH ROMBERGER was born on 16 Apr 1799 in Upper Paxton Township, Dauphin, Pennsylvania. She died on 23 Feb 1856.

iii. JACOB ROMBERGER was born on 19 Jun 1806 in Upper Paxton Township, Dauphin, Pennsylvania.[3] He died on 20 Nov 1864 in Wiconisco, Dauphin, Pennsylvania.

iv. SALOME SARAH ROMBERGER was born on 22 Nov 1808 in Upper Paxton Township, Dauphin, Pennsylvania. She died on 03 Sep 1890.

v. JOSEPH ROMBERGER was born on 07 Nov 1811 in Upper Paxton Township, Dauphin, Pennsylvania. He died on 20 Jan 1890 in Gratz, Dauphin, Pennsylvania.



This gentleman, the first of the Balthasar Romberger-s, made the crossing from Germany to the United States with his father in 1753 [4] , Johann Bartholomus Romberger also known as John Bartholomus Romberger. Balthasar's mother was Anna Maria Bruckner.

Like his father, Balthasar was once widowed, and thus had two wives.[5][6]
