Jose "JB" Bonafacio was born in 1885 in La Isla, Colorado, the last child (11th) of parents Feliz Romero and Paula Quitana. He lived in just two places during his lifetime, La Isla and Silt, Colorado. He married Senobia Lopez in Las Animas, Colo on Aug. 21, 1907. They had ten children. In 1937, when his children were in their teenage years, JB was killed in a fight at a Halloween night dance in Silt. He was buried next to his infant son Reginald in High Land Cemetery, New Castle, Colorado.

Birth & Baptism
JB Romero was born in the 'hamlet' of La Isla, Colorado on May 16, 1885. He was baptised in St. Augustine Catholic Church, Antonito, Colo., on May 25.
Family
In his primary family, JB was the 11th child of Feliz Romero & Paula Quintana. All of JB's siblings were also born in La Isla, and all were also baptized in St. Augustine's.
JB grew up in the rural hamlet of La Isla, which was only about five miles from Antonito, Colo. JB and Senobia moved to Silt, Colorado, where they raised their own children. The Romero's had relatives, and very close 'ties' to Las Animas, Colorado. A couple of JB's children were born in Las Animas, and a couple of them were later married in Las Animas.
Death
JB Romeo was killed during a fight at a Halloween Night Dance in Silt in 1937. Some of his own (teen) children were at the dance and werewitnesses to this tragic event. Three men were convicted of his murder and sentenced to prison.
