Alvina was born in 1903. She passed away about 1989. Several variation on her name are found, including "Mary Albina, " "Marie Alvina," etc.
There is a christening record for a "Mariam Albinam Romero" on November 1, 1903 in Socorro NM, which is probably her. Her parents are shown as Andrea and Eva Telles Romero.
Also known as Nica Sisneros.
I am the great-nephew of her notorious husband Wilbur; on a 1974 cross-country trip, my family stopped in New Mexico to meet Winnie and a daughter (perhaps a granddaughter or daughter-in-law). I remember that Winnie, for no apparent reason, became quite angry at one point, insisting that she was not of Mexican descent, but was "a white girl who had been kidnapped by Indians as a young girl." She had committed herself to an insane asylum at one point in the 1930s (when her husband committed his famous murder), and was perhaps a bit mad her entire life. That may have been what drew her to Wilbur, who was also quite insane.
