Antonio was born about 1844. He is the son of José Manuel del Carmen Romero and Maria Guadalupe Sanchez. In the 1850 Census Antonio Domingo age is recorded as six years old, making his birth year estimate roughly 1844.
Antonio, his brother Felis, and other members of the Romero family migrated to southern Colo. rural area around Antonito in the mid-1860's. Antonio settled his family in a rural area called Los Rincones, and Felis settled his family in La Isla. Both Romero families were close enough to attend the same church in Antonito, St. Augustine, where their children were baptized.
Antonio Romero married Maria Benigna Quintana, probably in the mid-1860's. Their first child was born in Los Rincones in 1867 Antonio and M.Benigna had three 'known' sons; Jose Maria George (1867), Pedro Antonio (1869), and Jose Benito (1872).
