Biography

Jabez Rood was born in 7 February 1693/4, probably in Norwich, New London County, Connecticut Colony to parents Samuel Rood and Mary Mariner.[1]

Jabez Rood and his wife Mehitabel had the following children:[2]

Asa Rood born 20 March 1717
Rufus Rood born 5 July 1719
Mehitabell born 23 October 1721

He married second Mindwell Allis before 24 April 1743.[3]

When his brother-in-law Eleazer Standish wrote his will on 4 June 1755, he named the heirs of Mehitabel Rood.[4]

He died 17 May 1760 in Lebanon, Connecticut.[5][6]

When he wrote his will on 24 March 1758 he lived in Lebanon, Windham County, Colony of Connecticut, spelling his name Jabez Rude.[7][8] He named his wife Mindwell, leaving her one third of his estate. He also named granddaughter Mehitable Rude the daughter of Asa Rude of Sharon, son Jabez Rude, son Josiah Standish Rude, son Jeremiah Rude, daughter Lydia wife of Thomas Clark, daughter Eunice wife of Ebenezer Youngs, son Rufus Rude. He named his son Rufus as Executor. The will was witnessed by Ebenezer Leach, Stephen Payne and John Crocker.

An inventory of his estate was taken on 2 Jun 1760.[7] On 11 June 1760 Mindwell Rude received items from the estate and 20 pounds lawful money and assigned her rights to her son in law Rufus Rude. Between 12 June and 20 Dec 1760 the following assigned their rights to the estate upon receipt of five pounds lawful money: Ebenezer Youngs and Eunice Youngs of Hebron, Hartford County, Jabez Rude of Lebanon, Windham County, Jeremiah Rude of Lebanon, Windham County, Josiah Rude of Stafford, Hartford County, and Thomas Clark and Lydia Clark, Norwich. On 25 June 1774 Jehiel Jackson and Mehitabel Jackson of Sharon, Litchfield received from uncle Rufus Rude four pounds lawful money for the estate of grandfather Jabez Rude and all the full demands of the estate of great uncle Eleazer Standish of Stafford, Hartford County.

Rood-130 and Rood-6 appear to represent the same person because: All facts match. Mother will need merge. No evidence is found for a William Rood, son of Samuel Rood and Mary Mariner.

Since the father of Asa b. 1717 was definitely Jabez, not William, by the vital records. Also his mother was Mehitable Standish. This profile needs to be changed to Jabez Rood. Objections?

Steve,

Is this intended to be Jabez Rood who married Mehitable Standish and has son Asa?
