Jane was born in 1769. She is no doubt related to T. Jordan Ruark, perhaps a cousin or even unlisted sister. Precise parentage for Jane Ruark is unavailable. She was probably born into the fourth generation of a family of that name that lived in Worcester County, Maryland. Some WikiTree genealogists suggest that Jane Ruark was probably the daughter of Ezekiel Ruark (1737-1818) (Ruke-2) or one of his brothers. If it was Ezekiel, his wife was Rachel Esham (1752-1791). They were married in Worcester County and were living there when they died. Ezekiel had three brothers: James, Shadrack and Hezekiel, all born in Worcester Co. There is a suspiciously long 12-year gap on FamilySearch.com in the recorded childbirths of Ezekiel and Rachel Ruark between 1763 (Thomas Jordan Ruark) and 1779 (Joseph Ruark). Thomas Jordan Ruark also moved from Maryland to Kentucky settling in Lewis Co where he lived near Laben and Jane (Ruark) Cropper. Thomas's daughter Mary Ruark in 1844 married Solomon Cropper, the son of Laben and Jane Cropper. Solomon was Wheatley Cropper's brother and served as a Private in the: Union Army, 54th Rgt, Ky Infantry, Company C. That was one of the regiments in which Wheatley himself served, mustering out as a sergeant, as described below.
