Jacobus Ignatius P Roos is my great grandfather and son of Cornelis Johannes Roos who survived Bloedrivier.

JI P Roos was born and baptised in Winburg Free State, while his parents took part in the GROOT TREK. He was Born more than 4y after the trauma of Bloedrivier.
It is believed that Cornelis left Natal app 1841. Unproofed.
JIP Roos grew up on farm Elandsfontein Lindley district, Farm of his father Cornelis Roos and mother AC de Wet Roos, and who had 14 or 15 children. Their stone house are still standing.
He married SCM Reyneke
They lived on Fraaiuitzicht, distr Lindley Bethlehem and he build a stone house there. It was burnt in ABW and was probably rebuilt by him and his family.
They had 13 children. My grandfather was JG Roos. He lived on BrakpaN farm, which is a portion of the farm Fraaiuitzicht.

Currently Brakpan farm form part of an agricultural consolidated farm.

Ignatius sometimes spelled Egenatius

Pieter sometimes spelled Petrus.[4]

I received a message today that my ggf JIP ROOS (died 1913) and his son JJ ROOS ,

was part of the Bethlehem commando during ABW and was captured on 2 Feb 1902 and sent to Ceylon POW Camp in March 1902. Awaiting proof. Added by Lenamarie

I RECEIVED A PHOTO FROM A ROOS DECENDANT:

The STONE house on the farm Elandsfontein belonged to Cornelis Johannes ROOS, the Father of my great grandfather J I P Roos.

Apparently a ROOS FAMILY REUNION WAS HELD HERE DURING THE LAST QUARTER OF 1900.
