Biography

Dr. Koos Roos was head of the mission hospital at Groothoek near Zebediela in the district Potgietersrus. The hospital was founded in 1943 and "eventually became the biggest mission hospital in the country with 1 213 beds. Dr JS Roos succeeded Dr du Plessis and worked for many years. On 1 April 1975 this hospital became a state hospital." ^[1]

At the time of her death in 1971, his widowed mother-in-law Daisy Burger was living with Koos Roos and his wife at Groothoek. ^[2]

Dr Roos retired to the Strand and lies buried there with his wife Retha.^[3]
