Biography

Petrus was born in Dutchess County, New York.[1] He was baptized on 2 January 1737, recorded as a child of Ary Roosa and Geesjen Oostrander. The baptism was recorded in the Reformed Dutch Church of Kingston, New York. The witnesses were Ary Oosterhout, Pieter Oostrander, Racheltjen Dingman, and Margriet Bogardus.[2]

Petrus Roos and Sarah van Steenberg registered their marriage banns on 4 July 1761 in the Reformed Dutch Church at Shawangunk, Ulster County, New York. According to the church record, he was born in Dutchess County and she was born at Kingston; both were residing at "Shawankong." The date of their marriage is not in the record.[1]

Roosa-368 and Roosa-341 appear to represent the same person because: Same birth data. (I corrected the birth date on Roosa-341 -- month and day were the same as Roosa-368, but there was one year of difference. The records show this child baptized on 2 Jan 1737; not on 2 Jan 1736.)
