Syracuse Herald, Syracuse, NY, 5 Dec 1906: "Funeral of George Root. Baldwinsville, Dec. 3 -- The funeral of George Root was held yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock, the Rev. Theron Green, pastor, of the Methodist church officiating. Mr. Root was 82 years old and had lived all his life in the town of Lysander. He was born about two miles north of this village on the State road. Surviving the deceased are his widow, two brothers and two sisters, Mrs. William Warner of Michigan, Mrs. Philip Myers of Cold Spring, Horace Root of Baldwinsville and Silas [Josiah] Root of Phoenix."

George W. Root left all his real and personal property to his wife Teresa V. Root, the executrix of his will. Witnesses to the will were Willard H. Tappan and Barton C. Maeys of Baldwinsville. In the 10 Dec 1906 petition by widow Teresa V. Root for letters testamentary, the following heirs at law and next of kin were listed:

Josiah Root, brother, of Phoenix.

In 1860, the George W. Root farm was on present-day Route 48, located in lot 68 of the town of Lysander.^[26]

G.W. Root purchased the old school house in district 14 for $20 on 18 Jul 1861. He sold one-half acre for $200 for the new school ground.

Mr. and Mrs. George Damouth were also recent guests at Mr. Root's." [Henrietta (Yeomans) Klock (1840-1920) had three grandchildren, Henrietta Sprague of Utica, George of Forestport and Glenn of Ilion, in 1920.]. ^[32]
