Biography

John Roper was born around 1591, the son of Katherine Seborne and Christopher Roper.^[1]

He was made Knight of the Bath on 3 November 1616, on the occasion of the creating of Prince Charles.^[2]

On 20 November 1616, he married Mary Petre.^[1] Their children were:

• Christopher Roper (1621?–1673)^[1]
• Francis Roper (b. before 1629)^[1]
• William Roper (b. before 1629)^[1]
• Catherine Roper^[1]
• Elizabeth Roper^[1]
• Mary Roper^[2]
• A fourth daughter^[2]

John died on 27 February 1627/8.^[1] His remains were interred at Lynsted Lodge, Lynsted, Kent.^[2]
