Biography

Ethel Elizabeth was born on 8 November 1907 at Blackheath, Rowley Regis, Staffordshire, the daughter of Samuel Rose and Elizabeth Brookes. ^[1]

Ethel was baptised on 6 December 1907 at St. Paul’s Church, Blackheath. ^[2]

In the 1911 census Ethel was living with her parents at 5 Masters Lane, Blackheath. She was aged 3 years. ^[3]

The family then moved to Oldbury, Worcestershire.

Ethel E Rose married Harry S Everest in 1930 at St Michael and All Angels, Langley, Oldbury. ^[4]

This couple had one child.

The 1939 Register, taken on 29 September 1939, has been described as a snapshot of the civilian population of England and Wales just after the outbreak of the Second World War. The Register recorded each person's address, date of birth and occupation.
At that time Harry and Ethel were residing at 9 Rose Avenue, Oldbury. Harry, born 6 July 1908, was aged 31. He was a food and general salesman. Ethel, born 8 November 1907, was also aged 31. The record for their daughter remains closed at this time [2017]. Also living with them was Albert Wargent, a married man aged 36. He was employed as a builders and decorators manager. ^[5]

Harry S Everest died in 1960 aged 52 years. ^[6]

From the 1961 Index of Wills and Administrations – EVEREST Harry Stanley of 20 Marine Terrace Penzance died 18 December 1960 Probate Bodmin 8 March to Midland Bank Executor and Trustee Company Limited. Effects £4299 6s. 10d. ^[7]

Ethel Elizabeth Everest died on 19 April 2002 aged 94 years. ^[8]
