Biography

Alma Maud Rose was born in 1901 in Paterson, New South Wales, Australia. She was the eldest surviving child of Monty Patfield and Alice Rose. [1] She was christened in St Paul's Church of England (now Anglican Church), Paterson.

Alma married Reverend Robert Strong on 28th March 1925 in St Mary's Church of England (now Anglican Church), Waverley, New South Wales. [2] Alma and Robert had met while Robert was an exchange deacon at St Paul's Paterson following his ordination in 1923.

Alma was a tutor to several young people, played the piano (was the usual pianist in St Paul's until her marriage) and taught sewing to young ladies. Alma and Robert had one son: Philip David, born about 1928. They fostered Alma's younger half-brother, Ronald, from June 1930.

Aged about 87 years, Alma passed away on 30th April 1988 in the Henry Fulton Nursing Home, Penrith, New South Wales.
