Biography

Daniel was born in 1831. He was the son of Mason Rose and Nancy Parker. Generally known throughout the county as "Judge Rose", he was the chief stockholder and president of the board of the local bank. and a deacon in the Presbyterian Church. According to George Rose, "he married Elizabeth Lemon, who was born 3 Oct 1836 and died 21 Feb 1898. He installed a memorial window in the east side of the Presbyterian Church to honor her. About the year 1901 Judge Rose received a letter from his niece, Leota Lemon, saying she had completed a course in business school and wanted to apply for a position n the bank. He wrote back saying he could offer her a better position: that of his housekeeper and under the name of Mrs. Rose. She invited him to come to see her. He went and soon returned with his bride, Leota Lemon Rose...she was forty-three years his junior." No evidence of children. He passed away in 1910.
