Biography

Life Story 2nd paternal great uncle. When Calvin Finley Rose was born on September 4, 1864, in Andover, New Jersey, his father, Albert, was 27 and his mother, Martha, was 24. He was a farmer and married Emma Elizabeth Snook on December 28, 1887, in Fredon, New Jersey. They had five children during their marriage: Leila, Martha, Charlotte, and twins, Calvin and Albert. Sadly, 4 of the 5 died young in 1902: Leila age 12 on Feb 3, Charlotte age 7 on Jan 27 and the twins age 5 on Jan 29. Martha was the only one who lived to adulthood. Emma died on June 28, 1915, at the age of 51, following an operation for peritonitis. Calvin was buried, along with Emma and their 4 children, in the Rose plot #237 map 1912, Newton Cemetery, Newton, New Jersey.
