Biography
Mary Jane Rose was born in Plymouth, Devon, 1844. [1]
Her mother was Margaret O'Malley, and her father was Major George Burrows Rose, Captain in the "69th Regiment of Foot". Her sister Alicia Maria Rose was born in 1842.
Her parents died in 1845 and 1846, and Mary Jane and her sister went to live with their uncle John Burrows Rose (born 1798).
Mary Jane Rose married Robert Atkin Hickson in Queensland, Australia in 1869.
Mary Jane Rose and Robert Atkin Hickson had the following children at Boonara Station in Queensland:
George William Hussey Hickson (1870-1923)
Walter Atkin Hickson (1871-1914)
Edith Uniacke Hickson (1875-1957)
