Biography

Idora C. Rose was born January 1857 in Ohio to Joseph and Rebecca Rose. She married Doctor Joseph Whitfield 29 November 1906 in Topeka, Shawnee County, Kansas. Idora graduated from the Illinois Training School for Nurses in 1889.

She was a prominent Registered Nurse and became a state inspector of nursing schools. Idora was known as a most competent and conscientious woman, who did much to establish and try to maintain a higher standard for the School of Nursing. She was active in the establishment and early growth of the Oklahoma State Nurses' Association. She served as President of The Oklahoma State Association of Graduate Nurses from 1911-1915.
