Biography

Arthur Wellington Rose, son of John Crippen Rose and Bridget (Smith) Rose, was born on 17 April 1859 at Sullivan Co., New York, USA.[1] He appeared on the census of 27 June 1860 in the household of his parents at Rockland, Sullivan Co.[2] He appeared on the census of 26 Aug. 1870 in the household of his parents at Rockland.[3] He appeared on the census of 9 June 1875 in the household of his parents at Rockland.[4]

He married Margaret Etty Christian, daughter of Hiram Christian and Lucinda Graham, on 31 July 1879 at Tazewell Co., Virginia.[5]

He and Margaret Etty Christian appeared on the census of 14 June 1880 at Elk Horn, McDowell Co., West Virginia. His parents were living with him.[6]

He married Mary Jane Luthia Clower[1], daughter of John Clower and Mary Nelson, after 1888.[5]

He was R. R. Brakeman when he and Mary Jane appeared on the census of 9 June 1900 at 25 Rail Road Ave., Bluefield, MercerCounty, West Virginia.[7] He was a Switchman for the N & W Railroad at Beaver Pond, Bluefield, Mercer Co. when he and Mary Jane appeared on the census of 2 Jan. 1920.[8] He and Mary Jane appeared on the census of 2 April 1930 at Bluefield, Mercer Co., West Virginia.[9]

He died on 24 Feb. 1937 at Bluefield, Mercer Co., West Virginia, at age 77 and was buried at Monte Vista Cemetery, Bluefield, Mercer Co., West Virginia. [1] His memorial has some biographical material, pictures and a copy of his death certificate as well as links to those of family members.[10]
