Biography

After the death of James jr, Samuel sr & Phoebe started calling their 18 yo. eldest son William James “James” in his honour or in hope of some inheritance from Rose Millions Scam , although everyone else still called him William or Bill. David Rose remembered this occurring at family occasions but did not know the reason. This caused confusion on later death certificates.

1930-1960 Census show Clariss & him (both names) living at 77 Queen St Woollahra, Occupation - Labourer. After James Rose jr's death in 1920 William appeared to have been coerced by his father Samuel Rose sr into assuming the name of James Albert which he did until his father's death in 1957, then reverted to William James in future census. After many decades of renting 77 Queen St Woollahra they were paid to leave by developers at which time Valmai was able to obtain a home loan for a home unit at Gardiners Rd Kingsford. ^[1]

At rest.
