Biography

Martha (Rose) Luddington had a son born about 1679, based on his marriage in 1700 to Sarah Collins. There has been a suggestion that Martha was born 10 Jan 1667. This would make her 12 when Henry was born, so 1667 is an illogical date for her birth.

Martha Rose, daughter of John Rose, was mentioned in the April 1683 will of her father. She married William Luddington. Their son William was born 25 Sep 1686. Her husband married 2nd June 1690 Mercy Whitehead. This places Martha's death between 1686 and 1690.[1]

Children

  1. Henry born about 1679; d. 1727; m. 20 Aug 1700 Sarah Collins[1]
  2. Eleanor m. 13 May 1714 Nathaniel Baley of Guilford[1]
  3. William b. 25 Sep 1686; m. 28 Feb 1710/11 Anna Hodge[1]
Jacobus' Families of Ancient New Haven assigns Mercy to this wife, but she was born in 1691, so was daughter of second wife, also named Mercy.

I've replaced Rose-6's paternity with Rose-1884 as it reflects a better-formed Rose lineage of the duplicated father formerly listed.

Rose-4948 and Rose-6 appear to represent the same person because: names, dates match
