Biography

Abraham was probably born in 1785, which is the date on his headstone in Find A Grave and the 1850 census gives his age as 64, so born 1785 or 1786. Fretz gives 1788; according to the dates his headstone, he passed away in 1865, for which a birthdate of 1785 agrees with Fretz’s “aged about 80 years”.

He married Margaret Detweiler, and Fretz gives their children as David, Jesse, Hannah, Fannie, Margaret, Abraham, Joseph, Samuel, Mary, Henry, Barbara, and Bettsy.

According to the 1850 census, he was living with his son David’s family (his wife Margaret died in 1846).

Children, from Fretz:

David
Jesse b — d — young
Hannah
Fannie
Margaret
Abraham
Joseph
Samuel
Mary de’cd
Henry d young
Barbara d young
Bettsy d young
