Biography

Rose married Joseph on June 15, 1912. They were both born in New York City.

Rose worked in the family store - J. Kraus & Co. along with her husband and eventually her son, Leonard Kraus and daughter-in-law Helen Kraus. There was a choice of buying J.Kraus & Co. or a farm which encompassed many blocks of what is now prime New York real estate. J. Kraus & Co. was a 'haberdashery' type store on 1st avenue and 82nd Street in Manhatten.
