In 1900, Herman Rosenthal, 38 b. Germany November 1861, a clothing salesman, lived at 1409 Madison Avenue with his wife Pauline, 35 b. France April 1865, and 3 children: Arthur, 14 b. New Jersey November4 1885; Edna, 7 b. NY September 1892; and Sylvia, 3 b. NY March 1897. Herman and Pauline both came to the US in 1875 and have been naturalized. They have been married 15 years, and Pauline has had 4 children, 3 of whom are living. [1]

1905 New York State Census Manhattan, New York, New York, USA

In 1905, Herman Rosenthal, b. 41 Germany, worked as a clothing clerk and lived at 490 Columbus Avenue with his wife Pauline, 40 b. Germany, and three children b. USA: Arthur, a 19 year old driver; Edna, 12; and Sylvia, 8. A lodger, Wm. Raymond, 36 b. Canada, lived with the family.[2]

In 1910, Herman Rosenthal, 47 b. Germany, worked as a clerk in a shipping department. He lived at 211 W. 148th in Manhattan with his wife Pauline, 45 b. France, and three children: Arthur, 25 b. New Jersey, a traveling actor; Edna, 17 b. NY, a stenographer in an office; and Sylvia, 13 b. NY. Herman and Pauline both came to the Us in 1870 and have been naturalized. They have been married for 30 years, and Pauline has had 4 children, 3 of whom are living.[3]

Elaine, 4 [4 5/12], b. NY; father-in-law Herman Rosenthal, 54 b. Germany, a clerk in wholesale clothing; mother-in-law Pauline Rosenthal, 53 b. France; and sister-in-law Sylvia Rosenthal, 22 b. NY, an assistant bookkeeper for a shirt manufacturer. Herman came to the US in 1874 and was naturalized in 1882, while Pauline came in 1873 and was naturalized in 1884.

In 1925, Herman Rosenthal, a 62 year old stock clerk b. Germany, lived at 802 W. 181st in New York City, with: wife Pauline, 60 b. France; daughter Edna Jacobs, 32; son-in-law Louis Jacobs, 40, a salesman; and granddaughter Elaine, 10. Herman had been naturalized in New York City.[4]

In 1930, Louis Jacobs, 43 b. NY, a wholesale dry goods salesman, lived at 214 W. 99th with his wife Edna Jacobs, 37 b. NY; daughter Elaine, 14 b. NY; father-in-law Herman Rosenthal, 67 b. Germany, a clerk in wholesale dry goods; and mother-in-law Pauline Rosenthal, 65 b. France. Louis's father was born in England and his mother in New York. Louis was 27 and Edna was 21 when they were married. Herman was 22 and Pauline was 19 when they were married. Pauline's father was born in France and her mother in Germany. Herman came to the Us in 1873, while Pauline came in 1873.[5]
