Stanley E. Roser

SPRING GROVE - Stanley E. Roser, 78, of Spring Grove RR 1, died at 11:25 a.m. Tuesday at Colonial Manor Nursing Center after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Carrie M. (Lint) Roser. The couple observed their 54th wedding anniversary June 13. The service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Zion (Shaffer's) United Lutheran Church, Seven Valleys RR 1. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Viewing will be 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the church. The Geiple Funeral Home Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Roser was born Oct. 3, 1917, in Baltimore. He was the son of the late Daniel H. and Leafy (Warner) Roser. He retired from Naval Ships Parts Control Center in 1977 after 15 years of service. Prior to that, he worked for Naval Ordnance Plant in York. He was a member of Zion (Shaffer's) United Lutheran Church, where he was Sunday School superintendent and teacher, a 50-year member of the choir, and served as deacon and on the church council. He was a member of Lodge 423 Free and Accepted Masons, Lutheran Men's Club, Naval Ordnance Plant Alumni, Viking Athletic Association, National Association of Retired Federal Employees and Moss Rock Hunting Lodge. Mr. Roser also is survived by a daughter, Carla M. Roser-Jones of State College; five grandchildren; a great-grandson; two brothers, Daniel H. Roser of York and Dale L. Roser of Spring Grove; and two sisters, Cleo M. Olsen of Springhill, Fla., and Adella M. Shaffer of Seven Valleys RR 3. Mr. Roser was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey L. Roser. Officiating at the service will be his pastor, the Rev. J. Thomas Shelley.
