Theodora FitzGibbon was born Joan Eileen Rosling on October 21, 1916 in London to John Archibald Rosling and Alice Winfred Hodgkins[1][2][3]
Her parents were divorced soon after her birth and her father moved to India, where he probably worked as a veterinarian.[4]
In the 1921 census Joan Eileen Winifred Rosling (age 4) was the grandchild of Theodore Andrew Hodgkins at 28 St James Road, Bethnal Green, Middlesex, England.[5]

Joanne E.W Rosling's marriage to Robert L C D or Constantine FitzGibbon was registered in the Jan-Feb-Mar quarter of 1944 in the Chelsea district.[6][7]
During her life, she was a model, a film actress, and travelled the world, having many famous people amongst her friends.
As ‘Theodora Fitzgibbon’ she built up an international reputation as a cookery writer, and from 1968 to 1984 was cookery correspondent for the Irish Times. She was author of thirty-one cookery books, including the celebrated ‘Taste of’ series, which dealt primarily with the regions of Britain and Ireland..[4]
